Architecture
This section provides an architectural overview of the PaySuite customer onboarding system, showing how your business customers are assessed and approved to use payment processing capabilities.
Onboarding Overview
The architecture diagram illustrates the key components and data flow during the business customer onboarding process.
Component Overview
Customer
The business seeking to enable payment processing capabilities through your product. Typically the business owner(s) will be accepting the Terms of Service as part of the onboarding process.
PaySuite Merchant Onboarding
The interface through which the business customer completes their onboarding application and provides required documentation and information for assessment.
Note: there are two routes for collecting onboarding data from the customer.
1. SoftCo Product (In product onboarding)
This is the SoftCo software application that will integrate with PaySuite services to perform customer onboarding.
The SoftCo product will interact with the PaySuite Service to create an onboarding application & fetch the resulting status and consume webhook events sent by the PaySuite Webhook Service.
2. PaySuite Onboarding Manager (Sales led onboarding)
A web application that offers SoftCo sales teams with a back-office portal to manage the onboarding of customers.
The Onboarding Manager will interact with the PaySuite Service to show customers status and onboard a new customer.
PaySuite Service
The core onboarding orchestration service that manages the customer assessment process. It coordinates between various verification platforms to evaluate the business customer's eligibility for payment processing services.
The Merchant API is the key service that enables this orchestration.
PaySuite Webhook Service
Handles asynchronous communication during the onboarding process. This service sends real-time updates about onboarding status changes, assessment completions, and approval decisions back to the business customer.
Ongoing assessment is performed to monitor the customers risk and communicated through webhook events to the SoftCo product.
Credit Risk Platform
An external service that performs credit risk assessment on the business customer. This component evaluates the business's financial stability, creditworthiness, and risk profile to determine their suitability for payment processing services.
Stripe Platform
Handles Know Your Customer (KYC) verification and compliance assessments. This platform validates the business customer's identity, legal status, and regulatory compliance requirements necessary for payment processing approval.
Onboarding Process Flow
The onboarding process begins when a business customer applies to accept payment processing capabilities. The PaySuite Merchant Service coordinates simultaneous assessments through the Credit Risk Platform and Stripe's KYC verification. Once both assessments are complete and approved, the business customer is onboarded and can begin processing payments for their end users, with status updates communicated throughout via webhooks.
