Payment Types

The Chip & PIN solution supports multiple payment processing types to handle the complete transaction lifecycle.

Authorise

Authorization validates the payment card and confirms that sufficient funds are available. When approved, the funds are held (reserved) on the cardholder's account until they are either captured or the authorization expires.

Use case: Reserve funds for a purchase before fulfillment or service delivery.

Capture

Capture completes a previously authorized transaction by transferring the held funds from the cardholder's account to the merchant's account. A capture can be for the full authorization amount or a partial amount.

Use case: Finalize payment after goods are shipped or services are rendered.

Cancellation

Cancellation (also known as void) releases funds that were held during authorization. This reverses the authorization before any funds are captured, returning the cardholder's available balance to its original state.

Use case: Cancel an order before fulfillment or correct an erroneous authorization.

Refund

Refund returns funds to the cardholder after a transaction has been captured. Refunds can be full or partial and are processed back to the original payment method.

Use case: Process returns, resolve disputes, or correct billing errors.

Terminals

Retrieve terminal information for payment processing through the Adyen payment provider.

Transaction Status

Check the status of a payment transaction through the Adyen payment provider.

Adjustments

Process adjustments for payment transactions through the Adyen payment provider.
